It’s been known for artists, photographers, and nature enthusiast to all pain, draw and admire the stunning setting of the waterfall and create masterpieces.
The spectacular waterfall that people travel to see if just a short walk from the stunning High Force Hotel. It’s a full 21 metre cascade which makes the views just incredible and worth the visit. Whether it is raining or a glorious day, there is nothing that can steer away the natural beauty of this waterfall.
Raby Castle
When in Middleton-In-Teesdale it would be rude not to visit one of England’s finest medieval castles and grounds. Raby Castle is situated just outside the village of Staindrop and has spectacular views, rich in history and is simply magical no matter the time of year that you visit.
There are stunning walking routes where you can see the castle from all angles, whilst out walking you can also see all the deer that roam freely in the park. At different times of year, Raby host different events which appeal to all ages and audiences. From outdoor cinemas, to castle tours and winter wonderland evenings.
With a gift shop and restaurant on site, you can certainly make a day of it before retreating back to Thorpe Farm Holiday Park to your static caravan. .
Wynch Bridge
Another family favourite for a day out in Middleton-In-Teesdale is the Wynch Bridge – a chain suspension bridge across the River Tees. Originally it was built so that workers could reach the Middleton Mines. In 1802 a chain snapped, and the bridge collapsed under the weight of nine users. Since then, the bridge has been restored and strengthened and is now a big tourist attraction.
Middleton Market Town
Small but quaint…with nearly 1000 people living in Middleton-In-Teesdale it is a lovely place to visit when looking for a day out. With small independent shops and cafés throughout the town, fish and chips and local pubs, you can certainly find a hidden treasure.
